Heres something to ponder over.

Sorting out my collection of invoices from main dealers for my 89 500SL I happened to notice something quite interesting (From the point of view of someone who enjoys an evening sifting through a pile of invoices).

Main dealer bill from 1990 listed labour at £35 per hour and front pads at £55.40 + vat. Main dealer bill from 2004 listed pads at £55.40 and I didn't have enough digits on the calculator to work out the labour rate.

As the car cost £70000 back in 89 and a new SL500 costs exactly that today this suggests to me that comparatively the cars and parts are ridiculously cheap while labour rates are close to criminal.

Interested to see what everyones opinion on this one is.
