Hi,
Have been toying with the idea of replacing the the exhaust system on my
C230K with a stainless steel replacement, saw this for sale from America it mentions a SLK230 Kompressor but not a C230 Kompressor, I personally don,t think there would be a difference.
Does anyone out there think of any reason why it would,nt fit my 1997 C230K
Item description as follows:-
T-304 STAINLESS STEEL HEADER FOR MERCEDES BENZ C230 2.3L 95-06 & CLK 230 KOMPRESSOR 98-04 , INCLUDED GASKET , EVERYTHING SAME PICTURES

Yes, But it does say that it would fit a W202 230 which after all is what my car is but with a Kompressor, I always believed the CLK and SLK 230K engine was the same as mine but with an ECU controlled Kompressor whereas mine is controlled via an electric clutch.

Hi,
Yes I,ll post it tonight when I get in from work the price is $169 + p&p in the auction he makes no mention of shipping abroad but I e-mailed him and he replied that he would ship to UK and the total price would be $250. Which for that manifold I think is very cheap considering if you could get one in this country they are in excess of £500 plus fitting.
The only thing that worried me was how much import tax would have to be paid as i,ve never bought anything like this before.
Any one got any ideas what level is import tax?

Careful on this ......LHD and RHD manifolds may be different. I saw this on ebay some time ago and enquired from the guy and he was unsure.

Is this the link you are reffering to ? This one is for the W202 C230 Kompressor

No there is another manifold listed in an e-bay shop which is for c230 NA and SLK230K and CLK230K.
Though I found that one this morning and was gonna buy it but I,ll have to give it some more thought now regarding the steering.
What were your conclusions on this?

Well, looking at the pic of the manifold that you posted and the one that I have put up which is supposed to be for the 230K, it looks like there are differences.

Now, I was going to purchase one of these, and I posted it up on another MB forum and was told there that there was a difference between the LHD and RHD manifolds, due to steering linkages etc.

As anything coming from the US would be for LHD, so I backed off this one.

Totally agree, its a great price, and it is a performance unit, but if it doesnt fit when you get it, what then ?

If you are looking for a better drive out of your car, have you fitted the Sprintbooster as yet ? I fitted one....fantastic mod that will definately put a smile on your face when you drive your car. Will totally transform it !!!!!

Hi,
Yes it would be an expensive item if it does,nt fit, I,ll think I,ll leave it for the moment me thinks.
I have read articles on the Sprintbooster mod, but does,nt that only fit the later models with electronic throttles, as mine is the earlier model with the electro-magnetic clutch on the kompressor pulley it has a cable actuated throttle valve.
Have you any info/link regarding this mod

It should fit your car.

Look under your bonnet and in the far right hand corner, look to see if your throttle cable terminates on black a circular electronic unit.

If it does, you can fit the sprintbooster.

No mate mine like I said has cable actuated throttle body.
Your car, if this is fitted is a 1998 model or newer, what is known as a face lift with the E.I.S. ignition switch with different bumpers and skirts on the side.
But my C43 could have one fitted.

Mine is a left hand drive 1999 CLK230K so this might still be of interest to me. I'd be interested in the link for sure.
