Has anyone done this to say an E Class? If so, did it actually either improve performance or fuel economy?

Yes. Performance vastly improved. Economy didn't suffer much at all despite a 94bhp increase.
Choose whoever remaps your engine carefully. If possible, choose an outfit that has a before and after dyno readout.
I'd recommend MSL Performance in Birmingham.

I not a fan, offered that at egr and adblue delete. Declined any map increasing performance outside stock, will in my view have an effect on long term reliability makers maps are max efficiency, max mpg at max longivity, reliability.
Sure all won't share this view. but sticking wid dat on. My motors.

My view, if you want more power buy a bigger engine, in this case IL6/V6. More power equals more heat dissipating that heat across more cylinders prolongs engine life. Both my cars, IL6 and V6 are rated at no more than 50bhp per cylinder which is under stressed for a modern ICE

I had plenty poke in Vdoz. At 65 I want reliability. Economy and practicality in my principle motor. Not loads of shxte to anchor me to the dealers.

Had an '03 diesel E class remapped after discussion with Indy garage who'd been servicing it for years and would be doing for years after and did. Pretty gentle remap in terms of rated power, increased to 44bhp per cylinder from 34. Deemed an economy remap, made power delivery much smoother and efficient and fuel economy improved. In the good old days we used to blueprint engines and tweak our carburettors.

GAD was founded in 2009 where we developed bespoke ECU Remapping software for motorsport clients, moving forward, we have extended to road vehicles for both performance and economy,
