hello there

I have recently aquired a 14 plate B type Se Petrol auto which I am very pleased with. There is one small problem in that I cant change the small rectangular display at the top of the instrument cluster from Km/hr and time to outside temperature and time. I have the owners manual but still cant change the display using the buttons on the steering wheel as described in the manual.
I know its not that important but with winter coming up I would like to know the outside temperature
Any help would be appreciated
Regards
Alistair Kerr

Hello and welcome

It’s because we have to show KPH in this country so by default the display has KPH showing.

With developer mode in star/xentry you can set it to show Temp.

However, IIRC it's a UK legal requirement to have KPH visible, and as MB speedos do not have (I think) dual dials, the display in question is the only display of KPH on the dash, so deleting it might be noticed by an MoT tester as being illegal.

Things might have recently changed but ..... I'm not sure a working speedo in either scale is a legal requirement. I've presented a car for MOT in the past without a working speedo ... the tester never even commented on it. And yes, it did pass! :):)

Why can't we have the option of having kph on show or not? My Senator's digital dash only showed one or the other kph or mph ...... I know that was a few years back.

A road test does not form part of the MOT as far as I know, so how would the tester know if the speedo was working anyway?

when he/she's testing the brakes on the rollers ;) or when using the decelerometer while testing a 4x4 if the rollers can't test a 4x4 ;)

They must love doing my MK1 Granada then... it doesn't start working until you are doing 30 anyway :)

Mind you it doesn't even need an MOT these days.... or tax Free motoring :D:D

Same question from me but I noted that Handbook states clearly that it cannot be changed on UK spec. cars.
(Its a legal requirement to show KM/Hr)
