Hello ,
I have a very minor irritation with my 1989 230 TE , when I go to fill up with petrol the petrol flap sometimes doesn't want to open . I have traced the problemm down to a red topped plunger type thing which lives in the boot behind the rhs cover . It is not lifting up and you can hear air escaping ( this would explain the strange noise I can sometimes here then I unlock the car and sit in it , before I switch the ignition on ) , I attacked it with WD40 but it is still sticking . I'm just wondering what would happen if it just leaks air all the time , where does the vacuum come from ? , and any ideas how to fix it ? , or how much is the repalcement part/parts .
Thank you
Mike .
p.s. I would just like to say THANK YOU to the people who replied to my earier post about my noisy cam shaft , I've had it replaced and it like driving a new car- cheers.
