I have a Japanese import and was thinking of ftting some sort of phone system.Having read all the discussions in the forum on the Nokia 6310i and the Viseeo Adaptors I'm left with a bit of a connundrum in that the car has comming out from under the passengers foot well a coiled cable with a plug on the end, there was something that was attatched to the passenger foot well side panel just in front of center console, as there is marks by what ever was used to attatch it. The plug is unfamiliar and can't find what the plug was original attatched to and I have been unable to find anything in google that looks the same.I have attatched 3 photos of the plug concerned. One side of the plug has Japanese writting, maybe some member might be ble to translate it for me.Any help on this would be great.

That looks like a connector that would go in a "vintage" mobile phone

Thanks Blobcat, suppose it is now trying to find out what that "vintage" mobile phone might have been.Almost think it was of the old hand set types

Almost looks like an old Motorola connector, don’t take my word on that though. Maybe something to plunge into the older style Nokia cradles that the 6210 then plugged into.
As above I’m just guessing a little here so you may be better off starting again as an import hasn’t the same standards as here in UK/Europe

Early 2000s Mercedes actually had MB-specific phone models. There was a Nokia 5110 made only for the S/CL/SL platform for instance.
But, it was region specific. So very highly likely that whatever plugged into that connector would’ve been the standard phone type for Japan for it’s day.

Thanks for the help folks, I think it might be a connection for a 1998 Motorola TeleTac
