Does anyone know how much would it cost generally to have MB pre-wire my 2005 e class in order to use the MB BT module, and give access to the phone through comand-aps and the steering wheel?

Planning to keep the car for three years, so could justify what may be a costly install....

Cheers.

I costed this up for a customer who wanted it in an A class. It came out to almost £1,000. For an E class it will be more due to the increased complexity of the wiring.

There are other options if you just want a hands free phone that works with the steering wheel controls.

EEK! £1000.00+.....

I have a THB Bury kit that came with the car and connects via bluetooth (and the phone charges via the cig lighter).

1K is just too extravagant.

I have the phone on autoanswer when hooked up to the THB, but it does not mute the stereo, which is a pain (and potentially a distraction as I reach for the mute button).

Is it a 'simple' job to get a car spark to connect a mute line to the comand? Or to connect the carkit to the comand to use the speakers in the car? I am very wary of a non-expert fiddling with such an expensive piece of kit.

What are the other options you suggest, Alfie.

Oh, thanks very much for the quick response.

Hi there - could you explian what the other options are? I just bought a W209 CLK with Comand, however I forgot in all my excitement to check whether it has phone pre-wiring or not. Whoops!

Yes. You can fit either a MOST retro fit kit or a D2B retrofit kit. Both are available for sale at www.comandonline.co.uk

You need to determine if your car is MOST or D2B. Basically if its the facelifted CLK made after circa June 2004, (roughly 54 plate onwards) then its facelifted. Otherwise its a D2B car. Check before you buy if you do buy. Alternatively PM me the chassis number and I'll tell you.

OK, thanks for that. Useful site. Rather expensive to get the phone working proper - wish I'd not got carried away b4 buying the car now! Get it tomorrow, so we have a close look then. Its a Nov 2003, so pre-facelift. Thanks again. Ken.
