Hi Guys,
I have a phone kit fitted to a 2000 E320CDI, with command system.
The phone crade is not one of the newer clip in/out ones but seems to be hard wired in. It is fitted into the centre arm rest and has a curly phone cable that dissapears into the depths of the armrest, Once the phone is clipped in the actual cradle can be lifted to use as a handset. The part No on the cradle is 203 820 06 51.

I have a Nokia 6310i that works perfectly, when not fitted to the cradle.
It clips in place just like it should into the crade....But does not work the command screen says no phone connected. I suspect the system is designed/set up for an older model of phone, that is the same shape and connections as the 6310i.
Now the question......
Does anyone know the correct model phone for this cradle?
Is there a way to upgrade this system easily & cheaply to make it compatible with the Nokia 6310i or better still a bluetooth upgrade that integrates with the command system and steering wheel controls.

Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards
Vern

The model number of phone that would have been originally fitted would be the 6210.

There is no cheap way to update to the 6310i as the phone module would have to be changed, cost approx £200 but can be picked up cheaper on E Bay. The 6310i module will work with the 6210 but not visa versa.

There is no real difference in operation between the two phones so best bet would be to look on E Bay for a 6210, or better still borrow one and try it first. Where about are you?

Sorry, I don't know where it is located on your car, but it is under the back seat on the S Class.

I am not too sure about plug and play either, it took the dealer about twenty minutes to fit, but whether they had to set it up on Star, I really don't know.

Good luck,

I fitted the unit myself. It is plug and play and did not need the Star.

Hi,
Still having problems with this car kit.
A Nokia 6210 fits in the cradle but the command unit does not recognide it.
The same happens with a Nokia 6310i.
An older Nokia 6150 works OK.
Upgrading the module to allow the 6310i to work sound like the best option.
Does anyone know where the module is located on a 2000 E320 CDI Estate?
also what is the part number or model number of the module that I need to be compatible with the command head unit and steering wheel controls.

Regards
Vern
