Hi Stulc
I have also posted some further images of the car here if they are of any use.
It is just a standard C43 but I am happy to photograph anything in detail if you want me to.

That's standard..with two tone leather...nice!, what colour's your dash eg c/fibre ect, and that steering wheel is certainly diffirent.
Yea I'd really appreciate some more detailed pic's inside/out, if you dont want to on here if you pm me them. I'd just like some idea's of what can be done with this model, thanks.

Yep it looks like carbon fibre trim. The problem is I have no idea what "standard" trim and fittings comprise of on an AMG model like this so I can't tell you what is different. I'm sure there are others on here that could fill you in on the finer details if necessary.
I will take some detailed shots of various bits over the weekend if you like. Is there anything of particular interest to you? Personally I think the best bit of this car in under the bonnet ;)

Hi Bassman,

The (replica) carbon trim is standard. So is the two tone leather. Options as far as I can gather were;

Tilt/slide sunroof
Folding mirrors
Folding seats (saloon)
Xenon headlights

These may also have been options;

Headlamp wash/wipe (I'll see if my new one has them)
Auto dipping mirror and/or rain sensing wipers (my new one has a sensor on the windscreen for something and a little dot on the rear view mirror which my last one didn't)

The only other signifcant piece of kit was Speedshift which came with MY2000 cars (again I don't know if this was an option or standard, all I know is that MY1999 and MY1998 could not have it)

Hi Bassman,

Update on options; this is what I have had on the two C43's

DEFINITE OPTIONS

Tilt/slide sunroof (first one)
Folding seats in saloon (first one)
Folding mirrors (second one)
Xenon headlights (second one)
Auto dipping mirror (second one)

POSSIBLE OPTIONS

Maybe rain sensing wipers (my new one has a sensor on the windscreen for something but it hasn't rained since I bought it)

Headlamp wash/wipe is a feature of both so maybe standard

Speedshift - might have been standard on MY2000 cars

OBSERVATIONS

Personally I can't see the point of rain sensing wipers as I don't have a problem moving my finger half an inch to turn the wipers ononnd my brain is no doubt more able than a comouter to decide if the wipers are needed or not.......... Same for auto-dipping mirror - err why? It's not as if the mirror is far away....

I s'pose the only answer is to order a new w 5 if I don't like the options chosen by the first owners of my C43's........:)

I used the Xenons for the first time today and they ARE useful.

Folding seats in the saloon also a good idea.

For me a sunroof is a good idea in both saloons and estates - sunlight all year round, a great way to lose hot air quickly in summer (before closing it and whacking on the a/c), and a good way to hear the V8 in summer when pootling around.

Not losing any sleep over not having one though.

Here's a picture

Having lived with both toys for a few years now, I wouldn't willingly have a car without. The mirror is a minor thing, nice though, you just never get blinded, but remember, with this you get the drivers door mirror too, which you can't normally dip. The wipers are brilliant though. Not foolproof but rain, especially with spray on the road is constantly changing. I drove another car recently and it drove me mad. Set the wipers to intermittent, then approached another car, up to normal, past the car, back to intermittent, past a truck on to fast ....
On mine I never touch the switch, rain or shine, it stays on the sensor and it just handles whatever is thrown at it. Marvelous invention.

Ah ok interesting - are you saying the door mirror auto-dips too?

If you have the sensor built into the front of the rearview mirror and in the glass then the drivers door mirror should dim as well. However if the glass has ever been damaged then it may have been replaced with normal glass - MB change > £150+VAT for dipping drivers door glass on its own. So people tend to go down the cheaper route and not egt the dimming glass.

If you have a blue sensor in the top of the windscreen above the rearview mirror then you have rain sensing wipers. To activate them, switch the wipers to the first position. To let you know they are on when you first switch the ignition on they perform a single wipe of the screen. Which is a pain as far as I'm concerned as the screen is invariably dry when they do this.
However in operation I really rate them. I have never found an intermitant wipe to be at the right speed, too slow or too fast. With the rain sensing wiper just switch it on and it sorts it all out. Just remember to clean the screen well otherwise it can get confused if the sensor gets greasy.
Have you done a VIN check as that shows up all sorts of wonderfull things that your car was delivered with

.....so how does the dipping actually work? Is it mechanical or is some kind of photo-sensitive process? I notice that the door mirror glass has a slight coppery tinge to it.

Yep got that

Dipping is photo-electrical. Mine are slightly 'bluey' but then again all my glass is blue.
Another way to tell is get someone to knock your mirror off, then look at all the wires going onto the glass. 2 = Heated, 4 = Heated and Dimming. Not that I can recommed this method.

Vin Check - http://www.mbclub.ru/mb/vin/index.html?lng=eng
Russian MB Club, very interesting to check out your car.

Just the drivers side.
To start with you don't really notice they have dimmed at night when you look in the drivers mirror lights look 'darker' look across to the pax mirror and you think 'wow' those lights are badly adjusted on the car behind & why are they flashing blue...

LOL - yes I only noticed the interior mirror doing it's bit last night (first time I drove in the dark).

The Xenon's were fantastic.

Jberks, Blobcat,

I stand corrected - on the way home tonight the mirrors and wipers worked perfectly - I am really impressed. Makes a stress-free drive even more stress free.
