ive done an electric plate on a w210, which had to be unscrewed by the 7mm bolt through the wiring harness.if i un screw that bolt will the wiring stay there or fall inside on a w211

Sorry Craig, that dont make no sence, a electric plate has about 12 screws holding it in,

The only 7mm nut/bolt is holding the pilot bush in, you can undo that bolt and nothing nasty will happen!!

The answer to your question is yes, it can be done without removing the sump pan, but I would drain the fluid first. The 7mm bolt can be tight, but the old trick of tightening a little first and then undoing can help if it won't play ball.

i have changed the pilot bush last thursday car drove very well, then noticed gear changes were not as they should be,checked the level and it was down, looked underneath and pilot bush is leaking again.the new one had black o rings on,which im hoping are the latest type as ive read there were many different types that were not very good.i could have caught one of the o rings fitting it or rather im hoping this is the cause as it would be an easy fix.im just wondering if there is another bush after the black o ring type as i read mercedes were to exhaust the old stock cheers craig

The black "o" rings are the best, did you put loads of grease around them before fitting????
