Having lived in California I noticed that there were several cars with dashboards which crinkle up in the sun. An effect not unlike the more bizarre offerings shown. Many vehicles are adorned with towels and bits of carpet to cover the scurvy plastics.
They have scruffy dashboards, we get rust!

On a serious note my offspring take the proverbial, because I used to put a black piece of cloth on the top of the Console above the dials.
There is no doubt that the Suns reflection from even a black Console onto the windscreen is annoying, and does not improve the eye sight or the pleasure of the vistas before us..

Some cars are worse than others.

In Oz I've seen Mercs with a special piece of non reflective whatever covering the complete Console to combat this problem. Not seen them for sale here.

Still I draw the line at Zebra stripes. A tad nasty!
