Newby here. Just purchased a Chinese media player for our 2008 W169.007 A180.
Got the panels out and the Audio 20 extracted from the A180 OK.
Trying to fit the ISO plug and get the new player to work and no joy.
Might be the pinouts are not correct on the new gear.
Anyone have a pic of the pinouts with function of the Audio 20, would be much obliged.
Regards.

@GLK might be able to help out, he did a huge amount of modifications on his 169 so probably has the information you need

If you do a Google search then select images there are loads of diagrams available.
One of which may be what you are looking for.

Hi and welcome.
Here's a pinout, let me know if you need more info:

I bench-tested my new head unit, before I fitted it (way back in August 2017), might be a good idea too - so you'll know where the fault is (if there's one, of course):

Thanks David, from your diagram, the new media player, and the iso connector plug it looks like Stecker 2 pins 16 is ground and pin 15 is +12v.

I will try to power the connecting pins on the new media player and see if the screen will light up.
There are a few other issues the most pressing is that pin5 of Stecker 3 in the new wiring loom supplied has a grey wire that is blanked off at its end rather than going to a connector pin on the new media player. It could be that as it is for Aux use it is not required.
Would like to know the whereabouts of the reversing power cable near the dash, as I intend powering a reversing camera wifi receiver to it.
Happy New Year.

Pin 15 is definitely +12v
The best way to confirm the Gnd, is to check for zero resistance, using a multimeter. Connect one probe to a metal part on your new kit and the other probe to the pin. I think it may be Pin 12, but I stand corrected.

Merc use the canbus to initiate the HU,
often we need to compensate that by bringing 'ignition on' power initiation from the ciggy lighter.
Do you have this?

If your unit is canbus matched such as reverse and lights will be automatic.
Which unit do you have?

Thanks David, from your diagram, the new media player, and the iso connector plug it looks like Stecker 2 pins 16 is ground and pin 15 is +12v.
Pin 16 is a wake-up trigger, so not a ground; pin 15 is indeed circuit 30 (always on) +12V. Ignition on circuit is 15.

I hope your unit is model-specific, in which case everything should work out of the box, and there will be unused wires and plugs left. Ideally you want your new head unit to utilise Quad-Lock connector, not ISO (you might have both in the box).

As Martin mentioned above - a reversing cam, connected correctly will not require a separate trigger signal.

Packed the unit up for return today.
There is something amiss with the pins on the HU, as they do not talley with the Audio 20.
Getting another one that has a bit more information and specific details of the A class W169.007 added.
Pinout 12 and 15 look to be the main power supply I need, Ki 31 and Ki 30 when I get my head around what they mean.
The reason for needing the reverse power line at the dash is that I am connecting WIFI receiver to take video to the head unit when reversing. The camera WIFIs will only have power when in reverse.
If I can get that power close to the HU it will be good, but a signal from the canbus might not be available or enough power. Just do not know if canbus is operating a relay to power the lights.
Downloaded a works manual today. What a job that was, 24Gb of zipped and 53Gb when un- zipped.
Still got to get my head around how to get to the right model and wiring diagrams.
Keeps me off the streets though.

David, quad connect to A class socket and ISO to HU socket, was the cable arrangement now packed and ready for posting Monday morning.

Look up a wiring diagram for a MK2 Golf. At the top you have 4 parallel lines. One of them will be shown as 30 at one end. That 30 correlates to Ki 30.
Another member has referred to it as Circuit 30.
What it stands for is +12v all the time.

I prefer a wired reversing cam, rather than WiFi one - far more reliable and actually no more complicated to route wires, etc.

As to head unit - just search for "android w169 w245" on eBay and pick a top spec (4GB/64GB Octa-Core) from a UK outlet - Erisin definitely has one - so that all warranty matters can be dealt with locally.

Again, do not expect all the wires / connectors in the supplied kit to be utilised - I had a whole bunch left unused (circled red here), as they tend to include a redundant generic kit, along with the brand-specific one. There should be a diagram showing all the wires, similar to this one, just read descriptions and connect accordingly. If the CANbus decoder is a separate unit, make sure you're linking your Quad-Lock with it, as directed (12 to 13 in this case):

David, thanks once again.
For me in Oz, buying from UK is a bit more expensive and difficult for warranty as well.
Your photo is the best I have seen for closeness to a wiring diagram. I will have a serious look at the can bus situation as there are cables defined as that in the new kit.
I chose a 2GB/16GB unit with three USB inputs which will allow extra gear to be added whenever.
Ensuring the pinouts of the joiner cables match the car and the media player is the main task I see.

Ah, my apologies - I assumed you're in the UK. In that case, of course, find a supplier with an Australian outlet - I'm sure there are many, or accept there might be a potential cost of sending stuff back to China - not as expensive as doing that from UK ;)

The pic was part of the unit description / listing.
The main thing is to pick a model-specific unit, even if a lower spec (my 2017 unit was 2GB/32GB octa-core, and was perfectly fine). Buying a generic doubleDIN unit, you'll spend ages trying to 'marry' it to QuadLock ...

Nice - I like the recessed screen design, much better than the older version.
So, you'll have everything built in, just plug your QuadLock in and off you go :)

The only port from connector C you'll need is RCA plug for reversing camera, the rest won't be required, as steering wheel controls, etc, etc, will all work via CANbus (which is built-in - perfect) on QuadLock. You won't need a reverse trigger wire either.

What I did is taped all the redundant wires together with Tesa tape and then wrap 'em in ~10mm polyurethane foam - the last thing you want is to hear something knocking behind the dash

You might want to run extensions of all input channels (cam1, cam2, reversing cam, etc) to the glove box, and label them, same for at least one USB port, two others can go to power socket tray and armrest - I found it convenient.

GPS antenna works perfectly fine from under the dash, just place it under the plastic, not the metal mesh section, and be careful not to put it on top of the passenger airbag.

That looks like the one I have in the Viano now.
The screen is a little less bright than my previous versions .
It came with the possibility of using 2 reverse cams, although its design is for 1 front and 1 rear I've adapted so I have 1 long view and then a screen press for looking at the tow ball as I get close to hitching up.

I have the 4gig RAM, the 32gig internal memory is way more than I'll ever want as my dash cam has its own SD input.

Plug and play there should be no need for the ignition 12volt signal as it should be via the canbus.

I ran the mic from the o/h light unit, the in unit mic is near useless in the Viano. It its good for calls but doesn't do very well with voice controls on the go though, maybe I can improve that??
