Looking for advice on what to be aware of when buying a mid 80's sl Any help would be useful

Planning to buy SL

The later the better and make sure everything works.  Check the soft top MB, want £1200 just for a new cover fitting is extra.  The 300SL is very smooth but prone to oil leaks and expensive on front exhaust pipe.  Get it checked out unless you know what you'r doing
