Hi, welcome to the baffling world of modern auto electrics. Please be aware that the wiring diagrams vary for LHD, RHD, model year, country of supply, Manual or Auto, whatever must have extras, fuel type, we ran out of yellow wire that year and whatever random **** that hits a factory over the years. There are no easy search facilities on the factory WIS system so when asking for detailed help your chances of a reply are greatly increased if you include as much model information as possible. I have a 2006 petrol auto CLK which is probably the same for rear lights . As a stupid amateur it took me ages to find the reversing lights diagrams since they are called "Back-up lamps". They are controlled by the rear Signal Acquisition Module ( SAM ) with all the fuses on the top - it's in your boot - the left wire should be GYBU and right side GYYE ie Grey with Blue stripe and Grey with Yellow stripe. The actual switching is done by the computer module under those fuses which gets a message from the Front SAM which gets a message from a switch S16\2 somewhere in your gear selector system/module. Laugh out loud moment - Just grabbed my Haynes manual and there was the information - LHS Grey Blue - took me two minutes. They are an essential purchase - much quicker than talking to fools like me on Forums. As above
