Please Help, A-Class alarm goes off while driving

Spoke to the local dealership who said that the alarm I was describing was not fitted to the car but three people I know own the same car, same year and all have the same alarm and all go off while driving!!!

The cars are A-Class 140's on a 51 plate all three of them can be driving down the road and the alarm goes off but does not stop the car driving. When this occurs all you do is turn the alarm off with the unlock button on the key and insert the immobiliser fob to reset the alarm and carry on.

Does anyone out there know how to stop this or a fix for the problem?

Regards Darren.

The cars aren't all from the same source are they? - Same dealer, same company owner etc. It doesn't sound like a factory fitted unit but rather an after market one fitted either by the selling dealer or the owner. It may be that the dealers all fitted the same one a few years ago, but with the turnover in staff, you'd probably be hard pressed to find someone who remembers it. New ones will no doubt have factory fitted alarms like the rest of the range so that's what your dealer is thinking of.

I'd pop it down to your local car audio/alarm specialist who will probably have more experience with that alarm than the dealer.

All the cars were bought from different dealerships from different parts of the country, all the cars are second hand to us all, one owner and low mileage.

Cheers Darren.

Yup. got the same problem, with an MB system on the key. 51 plate A170

Although saying that now the weather is warmer it hasn't done it as much!

I used to fit these a-class alarms. I may have a solution for you.

When the ignition is switched on and the key turned to the cranking position the buttons on the keyfob must not be pressed otherwise this fault that you describe will occur. Try and position your fingers in such a way that you don't press the buttons.

I have had this problem with loads of a-classes that came into the dealer. I even watched the owners start their cars and sure enough they press the lock/unlock buttons while starting it.

Give it a go a let me know how you get on.
