Hi how are you ...... I have mercedes e200 cdi 2000 model. My alternator was swapped before some times. And I changed but when I change the alternator the cars rpm won't pass from 3 rpm. So what could be the problem . Please help me guys and thank u

Which alternator have you put on..? Bosch or .....
Is it a water cooled one..?

KEBRON Do tell us more about the revs whats the 3 rpm You do have a limiter on your engine,,it governs the engine at stand still .So get her on an open road and then try again if you dont kill youself .;..

I presume its 3000 rpm. I think there may be some kind of limiter which kicks in unless the car is actually being driven. Best to take out on road as above

Sounds like the car is in limp mode because of a fault , get the diagnostics codes read

I already drive but no change the rpm is still 3

Was the alternator new or reconditioned.? Do you have a meter to check how much current the alternator is putting out.?

My research shows that the alternator may be the same as on the om646 engine.
So, the fault may be .........alternator is not talking to the diesel injection computer.
Can you check the wires connected to the alternator. Please take a photo of these wires.
One of these wires talks to the computer.
