thanks for reading
erm well it all started with my 92 230e died from overheating (head gasket on long journey:confused
since then i could only source a 94 E220
so i bought the whole car for an engine swap
i bought the car with an "immobiliser problem"
trying to the start the car i had no fuel pump or spark but cranking over good
so took the engine out and put it into my 230e and also changed the loom
time came to try her out, no go
exact same problem as when the engine was in the other car
so i had a guy out from A-E auto electrical out to help
"ECU im afraid" so i went out and got a reconditioned unit with 12months warrenty for £350
plugged it in today no joy same problem
any help on that?
also there was a few extra wires on the E220 which go deep inside
a 4 pin socket which only a pair of wires come from the loom behind nearside dash
also a pair of wires pink and yellow on a double plug connect in the fuse box
are they Air Bag wires as the only difference between the cars wore air bags

any help would be greatly appreciated

Dodgy one this Bratman ! --could be several things with all the changes you have done -thats why you have not had any replies I guess?--going back to the original 230 lump and problems may have disturbed something else -try change of relays OVP 1st ! or at least get them tested before you go any further -- can you get your mony back on the ecu ?

thank you for your reply

yer i have been having a closer look at this
i got the old test lamp out
there is 3 feeds coming through to the ovp relay
i take it that this is the green one made in Ireland
i have 2 + feeds and one - feed
but by putting a + feed into one my fuel pump kicks up but stays on
so i checked the fuse and replaced it just in case still no pump on ignition
i did check the relay (i know how a relay works) but they are a little complicated for me
i took the cover off the relay to have a look while prodding it with a pair of grips
it does flick
have i got a bad feed or no feed to something ovp related
any help would be great:mrgreen:
many thanks
