I've never had a car with points that hasn't got me home. An electronic system on the other hand....

Change to electronic in distributor system, make a huge improvement. have done it to a few old cars.

Have electronic on NG tf. Plus original pts in car. All other infrastructure still on bulkhead.

Yep not much you can't fix with a bit of wet and dry, screwdriver and fag paper.

Carry a spare set of points if the in distributor system fails

Many a time used the sandpaper part from a matchbox to give the points a quick doing up and the plugs. Happy days.

I will bring this on a bit, does anyone remember or still use a strobe light to set timing ?
Nice bit of white paint on timing marks, unclamp distributor and adjust timing, car goes well, 1000 miles later doing it again as points have closed up.
I must admit, those days were easy compared to now.

Remember it well. No longer have a timing light but still have a Gunsons gas analyser and a Colortune in the shed. Anyone else remember them?
