anyone know anything about policy expert, they are the cheapest for me by far on a comparison site but I have never heard of them,

Just had a quick look, hadn't heard of them either. They look slick- to me they are selling the fact that they do comparisons, renewals and buying policies together, unlike the usual comparison sites where they direct you to the insurers/underwriters. They display good customer ratings.
I'll be trying them when I need to

Policy Expert

I have been given a building and content home insurance with Policy Expert (Policy Expert Home Select) which is far cheaper than anybody else I have found and they include "extras" as standard e.g home assist, trace and access up to £5k etc.

FFS !! I have just run my details through without the named additional driver and it came up with £697 !!!!!!! My current premium is £208 without the named driver so I will give them a miss for sure

I was a little concerned because they are £150 cheaper than the next cheapest the AA are about £450 and they Are £305

That's the problem. Customer ratings seem to mainly relate to ease of use of the website and cheap prices. Insurers can only be judged when it's time to make a claim. Personally I have no confidence in these on line Insurers who have just sprung up (even if it's 10 years ago).

As above the reviews relate to cheapness and ease of use of website. I'd like to see a load of reviews on claims outcomes before choosing a company.

If I recall correctly the underwriter is Axa, so some likelyhood that a claim would be managed well

found some bad reviews of their home insurance on MSE, so have gone with the AA who are in the top 3 on which.
Called my present insurer to tell them not to auto renew and they changed their quote fro £906 to £506 and said they could not understand why my first quote was so high.

I always refuse to stay with them when they do that. I explain that to keep me they need to provide the best price first. They were looking at a straight £400 additional profit from you, blood well and truly boiled

Ah if that's the case, then you should be Ok - at least an established Insurer and a big target if things go wrong.

Just changed the 530d to Quote me happy from March (Underwritten by Aviva) as I got the renewal from DL £643, QMH £496.....

Been using them for home contents and building insurance for a number of years, never had any problems, have had to phone them once regarding a water leak and they were very helpful. I think they also do a referral scheme so if you use them that person and you gets a voucher or something like that. I know I gave my son the link to use it and we both goth the voucher so yes I would recommend them
