A mate of mine at work has a S212 E350, which recently suffered an osf headlight smashed lens. The resulting water ingress caused abs / pas failure whilst being driven!!

How would power steering, a fairly critical system - given the difficulty in driving without - be affected by a cracked headlight??
Who thought that was a good idea??

Where's Craig? :rolleyes::rolleyes:;)
Here.

Hard to tell on this one. I suspect that if the car has ILS, this is keyed into the steering angle sensor so linked to the steering ECU (these cars have FBW steering iirc). The steering ECU is part of the ABS system. So, there will be some interaction there- would be my guess. Almost certainly not the ABS/ PAS setup dying, a fault code will have caused the system to fail soft.
