My aircon has really never worked in the 2 years I've had the R172 and having being cooked on my 200 mile Costa run Monday I thought I really should do something about it.

I did get it re-gassed 15 months ago as part of a service but it wasn't on the bill as something else cropped up but they did say it was done. So today I took it over to a geezer that just does aircon and he offered a £29 diag service.

There was 420g of refrigerant in the system which is down from the 550g it should have but he reckoned that was pretty good if it hadn't been been working the last 15 months as it will leak past the dry seals. He evacuated the system and pressure checked it which was okay and then refilled but it did not burst into action. I didn't see what diagnostic software he was using as typically I had an important phone call about my "Costa" trip tomorrow but I did lean over and take a quick pick when he pointed at them....

He cleared the codes but still nothing happening and that's as far as we got as he doesn't repair but did give me the details for his mate who's an auto electrician. Before I give him a call, here's the pic I took - notice how I expertly missed the code numbers.......grrrrhhh! Any suggestions, apart from a bag of ice cubes under my cap? Oh, and the reflection is the geezer, I remain anonymous as usual....

Dont bother with an auto electrician. You need an MB indy who can decipher codes and find the underlying problem.

Does the blower work when you select fan on full power.

The screen shot shows the three things that are critical for an efficient a/c.
The cooling fan by the condenser, and the temperature sensors. Time to check the connectors to them and/or replace them.

Can't help, when you do get the aircon fixed use all the time and hopefully you will not have any problems.
The aircon on my 2005 CLK has never had any repairs or re-gas

Pretty good going that, I finf they need a regas around 7 years, if anything to keep the lube level optimal which is present in the refrigerant.

Blower motor works absolutely fine from the start point of 0.5 around to 5 in 0.5 increments with a noticeable speed increase for every increment. up to" blow your hat off" level on the full 5...

I always leave my aircon on all year round.

Oh for the days of simplicity and a Haynes manual to locate all this b#ll#cks.......I need to find the time to sit down and research this but you know what's it like when you're retired, it's difficult to fit all the things in....

Has your passenger kicked off a wire?

I'm going to start looking later when it cools down a bit. At the moment I'm 54 miles into a Costa run... and it's warm out....:coffee::cool:
Turn you're seat heater and air scarf off, drop the side windows (and a couple of gears...) ;)

2014 639 Viano- 651, 5sp Auto. 2009 S211- 646, 5sp Auto.
Likely of no value.
The 2014 Viano was re gassed and held pressure (pre tested with nitrogen).
Nowt cold out of the vents so they evacuated the system again.

While the engine has been out I've been able to look and found a poor connection from one compressor plug to the other.
'On mine' there is a one wire feed to a 2way plug to the top side That is linked to the plug lower side and also picks up a chassis connected wire, so +ve and -ve to lower plug. But it had a poor connection. I'm hopeful that is all my issue was.
A plug wiggle on yours might be worth a try.

I use to have Nissan Primera (2001) for 11 years, did nothing to aircon.

From this diagram I'm reckoning that both sensors will be on the passenger side and could be these on the diagrams?

Evaporator Sensor No 120

Footwell sensor No 200?
