hi folks any ideas on what may have happened to my gearbox. i was driving home stopped at a roundabout selected first let clutch out nothing tried second nothing tried reverse nothing, blocked the rounabout till a thoughtful shogun driver gave me a tow to a layby. Above problem occured with no prior warning clutch fine still got pressure, selects through cables although obviously cant tell what its doing inside. Ive wrecked a few gearboxes over the years but always got a warning, any help will be much appreciated, its got to be something simple surely :confused:: :(

Hi There, Sounds like connection from gear lever to selector rods has gone. Even if there was trouble with the slave cylinder , the drive plates would still be in mesh and you would get drive when you select a gear. . Either that or clutch itself has sheared.

Is it definatly not your selector cable?
Had a similar problem at a roundabout year and a half back just outside lincoln. I lost 2nd 4th and reverse. It felt like it was going in but it had nothing. Turned out my selector cable was shot from the back of the gear stick to the gearbox. Cost about £75 I think.
(Its since cost me £350 for a new clutch and £600 for a gearbox rebuild and it still feels like crap.)

Could have torn the centre out of the clutch driven plate, have you looked underneath the vehicle when in drive to see if either of the driveshafts are spinning as it could have ripped out the splines on a front hub or the driveshaft. Is there any noise when trying to drive? and finally was there any sign of clutch slip prior to this occurence?
