That's pretty serious going. To think how much money has been spent on that R&D for what some people might consider a negligible gain (~4.2% isn't bad)

These are the kinds of things I like to make reference to when people argue you are just paying for the name.. while there may be an element of that, you are paying for far much more.

The US Navy now 3D prints parts for its F/A-18 aircraft on board carriers, to reduce on hand inventory cost and improve lead time. So, they’ve brought 3D printed parts to naval airworthiness standards. That’s a pretty unforgiving environment.

I mean, that’s literally what the Ford class carriers have in their aviation stores ;)
