Possible SAM issue?

Hi all.
I own a 2009 C200 Sport 2.1 CDI and I am having an issue where as soon as I turn on the ignition my headlights and tail lights come on regardless of what my light switch is set to, and both rear indicators are not working. The rear indicators flash when I lock and unlock the car fine however.
On doing some research I am hearing things about a possible faulty SAM unit and was wondering if this sounds about right?
I have practically zero knowledge or experience with car related mechanical issues let alone electrical issues, so any help here is hugely appreciated.

Hello and welcome,

A wet "SAM" makes the car do strange things - I'd be opening them up and checking for any water damage - I'd also be checking the battery condition ~12.4V at rest and >14V with the engine running
