ive recently purchased an e350 diesel convertible (2011), i see some are 231 hp and other 265hp.. how do i identify which mine is?

also ive seen for sale on eaby, plug in tuning boxes for £60-£100 that claim to increase mpg, bhp and torque... do they really work and are there any negative side effects?

i personally wouldn't use any cheap boxes,i use a tunit box on a nissan navara and not had any trouble with that.
if you are going down the tuning box route get a well known make.

Hi,

I happened to stumble across this thread. I had an e350 sport cab (2012) and used a TMC Motorsport box with no issues during my ownership. I'd also used TMC for my old Audi A1 with great effect.

I genuinely was going to put it on Ebay as I found it in the box in my garage a couple of days ago. If you're interested (and you confirm which engine variant you have) then I'm happy to post it to you for you to try and then if you want to keep it then you can buy it from me, if not just return it. All I'd ask is that you cover all the postage costs so I'm not out of pocket.

Let me know if you're interested.

Good afternoon,

The tuning boxes mentioned merely trick the fuel rail into having a low signal forcing the ecu to up the pressure. This doesn't make for smooth engine running or power output! Some boxes come twin channel which also interrupts turbo pressure signals for the same reasons.

Tuning the vehicles ecu can both improve power and economy and we have removed a couple of brabus boxes from members cars and tuned in which the vehicle made more power and gained in the mpg department!

If you have any questions please either message us or contact us here at GAD directly.

Many thanks

I used a DTUK eco3 box on my previous car and it was absolutely faultless. Great improvements to power and economy, with the added benefit of being able to adjust it any time I liked. When I sold the car, I was able to remove the box and I sold it on.
