Power loss(limited revs) on ML270

Hi all
I have a 2002 ml270 with 135000 km, the engine starts fine but is limited to 3000 rpm. The take off is the same weather full or half acceleration. Could someone who has expierenced the same problem please let me know what to do and how to check the sensors.

Yes my e320cdi w210 has the same problem, its limited to 3000 rpm and there is no kickdown. I dont know what to do though I believe the W/S switch is stuck in winter.

I have read other threads and they point to cleaning the MAF. i have done this yesterday but the rev are still limited. Not sure if it needs to be replaced or if there is another sensor I need to check. The sensor I checked is located on the top of the air filter intake pipe which only has a electrical plug connected.
