My 1992 230TE auto-box seems to pause and stop accelarating when I push the accelerator pedal to the floor - even when it kicks-down.

This means that I have to take my foot off the power a little in order to keep on accelerating. It has caused a few hairy moments on the motorway I can tell you:shock:

Any ideas??

Cheers!

Difficult one to answer without more information. Do the engine revs increase and the car doesent go any faster or do the engine revs remain the same or do the engine revs die slightly?

Fuel starvation would fit the bil here.

First replace the fuel filter placed just in front of the pump on the offside of the car just in front of the rear wheel. the fuel pump could also be lazy or past its sell by date.

The revs stay the same but it is as if someone puts a wall in front of you.

Would this also have any other symptoms? It seems that when I am travelling at 70mph on the motorway in 4th gear and put my foot right down then this lack of acceleration happens and I have to back off slightly. On doing this the car picks up again and accelerates away without a problem.

Does this fit the bill?

it does seem to be a fuel related problem
