I think that the car will have to be put onto STAR and have the fault code read out, you have lost a speed signal, and the car can go into the limp home mode. A good indie is cheaper than MB

Thanks doesn't happen all the time only sometimes but makes me wary of someone comming up behind me on the motorway and losing speed and bashed up the back!!!

Is the ABS and ESP lamp on all of the time ?

No only after power loss and then dissappears when motor turned off.

This then could be a speed sensor,, needing cleaning or wire broken

Took car to garage and had it tested. Replaced brake light switch. Steering angle sensor fault also recorded . So far so good. Thanks for your help.

Abs,bas, esp, car missing solution

I had abs,bas, esp, beep alarm and flashing whenever i touched the brake. Malfunctioning light display
the car would suddenly kangaroo down the road as if it was going to cut out then it would pick up. And drive normally
i had a loose rear light cluster that i replaced and all the faults disappeared.
Obviously the faulty light cluster was sending a mixed message to the computer
