Hi all, first time on, and in need of advice. Power steering decided to pack in tonight, could any of you good people offer any advice as to what it might be and any possible solution to resolving the problem.
Also, what power steering fluid should be used to fill the system if indeed it is needed.? Many thanks. :?

If the belt is OK then the problem could be the pump or steering rack. Have you noticed a leak? Is the fluid low?

Use regular ATF automatic transmission fluid to top up.

Urgent

do not use ATF to top up this will damage the pump and invalidate any warrenty you may have use MB hydraulic fluid.

Some of these cars have had a problem with diesel leaking onto the belt causing problems get it checked out , if the oil is low you would normally get groaning and hissing noises
