Hi
Not long had my 2003 mercedes Cdi auto and now the power steering has packed up. I have checked the fluid and that is fine.
Can anyone point me in the right direction.
Also I have no warning lights on my dash.

I’d suspect pump failure, but it isn’t a straightforward diagnosis. Get someone to turn the steering with the engine running while you look in the top of the reservoir for fluid movement

unlike most, its quite a simple system, pump driven by belt, which powers the rack.
Have you got any drastic oil leaks ?

I found pipe off so all fluid drained out but now the pump is making an extremely loud noise

If the pump ran dry, it may well need replacing. I expect you topped up fluid after finding the leak, if so, and pump makes a lot of noise, then that would confirm. ( did you bleed system, turning steering from lock to lock to get air out)
Pretty straight forward, swap pump and bleed system

Either cavitating due to air or pump goosed.. if you change pump.be careful to check for debris in rack ..flush the system
