Does any one know the production figures of SLK32 AMGs or at least the amount of RHD ones in the uk? How 'rare' are they, especially in colours other than silver or black?

Cheers!

About 200 were made for the UK.

They often appear for sale through the MBUK website. I have to say, I've very rarely seen a black one. More likely to see one in yellow.

Thanks.

Currently have vivianite green 230 SLK, would like 32 SLK in this colour. Do they exist?

If that's the dark green, yes. I saw one on MB used car search about a month or two back.

Good luck with your search but be prepared to compromise on the colour as there are so few around.

Number of SLK32s

Hi,

I believe there were 271 SLK32s sold in the UK.

I think 56% of ALL R170 SLKs sold were Brilliant Silver. The next most popular colour was Obsidian black.

The SLK32 was not available in vivianite green as that colour was discontinued when the facelift was introduced in 2000. As far as I know the only standard green (excluding designo colours) would be prismatine green, but I've never seen or heard of an SLK32 in that colour.

There were a few knocking around on Autotrader the last time I'd looked.
I've only ever seen one in yellow but mainly they are in black or silver.
They are so rare I've only ever seen a couple on the road apart from mine, good luck.

It normally resides in my garage but when it does come out it puts a smile on my face, a real wolf in sheeps clothing. Near supercar performance for affordable money, the brakes are awesome but the steering feel is a little numb and lifeless. In terms of performance I have beaten a M3 and kept up with and M5 around a race track. The engine is bullet proof but there are a few commom problems to look out for before you buy one

1. Check heated seats work, both my base heater elements were knackered when I got mine. Expensive to replace (£280 per seat!) as the elements are part of the leather cover. I got round it by retrofitting standard SLK heated elements under the standard seat cover for a fraction of the price.

2. Check intercooler pump is working properly. Take it out for a good thrashing and if the engine suddenly holds back like it has hit the rev limiter and then intermittenly comes back after a cool down I can bet my money it's the pump, about £150 for a new pump. Touch wood this has'nt happened to me yet.

3. Check the operation of the PSE pump situated in the boot floor. Water seeps into the electronics when the roof is lowered after rain. Symtoms include central locking malfunction, my dash door lock switch would not lock the doors and my interior light kept staying on. Other symtoms are alarm going off intermittently as the pump controls this also. Luckily mine was changed under warranty.

If you can find one without these problems then you have a good buy. Price wise I would expect them to sell for between £15k to £20k from a 2001 - 2004 model. Good luck.

Production figures were: 2000, 10 units; 2001, 2193 units; 2002, 1336 units; 2003, 742 units; 2004, 52 units. 979 units were retained for Germany. It appears that 2056 were shipped to the USA: 2002, 1182; 2003, 562; 2004, 312. Fewer than 300 were imported to the UK.

Hope this helps!!!

Hi,

How strange, I just stumbled upon this thread.

The red one (amber fire) is mine. Sure, I'll try to get some decent shots of the side etc this weekend.

The wheels have also now been refurbished and made into an SL65 Bi-Turbo style versions (diamond cut lip with titanium spokes).

The car also now runs only the pre-cats, K&N air filters and has a sprint booster fitted. It's very loud and regards Japanese sports cars as snacks, including moderately tuned Skyline GTRs. :)

Just one tip for owners of these and other cars, do not kneel in the seat base to reach across for anything,, the pressure is to great and this will result in a broken wire on the seat heater pad, through some reason it applies to the 170 more than most others

Holy resurrected thread Bat Man!
I just stumbled in here also. I'd like to see the pics too. My wheels could do with a refurb and what you've got sounds nice and I'd like to see them. I just last week bought a SLK32 and I'm trying to get a bit more info on them. I'll say one thing tho', the performance is astonishing! I've yet to meet anything that can keep up in accelleration, it is mind boggling quick. God knows what yours must go like WM if I'm like this standard!
