Pre Entry Climate Control v Departure Time

I have a GLC300e and fully understand the Pre Entry Climate Control but cannot fathom out the Departure Time Setting and what this exactly does. Anyone any ideas?

I assume you set you desired departure time and the car works out when to start heating taking into consideration the current weather.

Yes that is right but you can set the departure time with the pre climate conditioning and wanted to know what that exactly did and was it like a time to make sure the battery is charged up for the departure time
