Hi All, I own a 2013 A180, had it since 2016, no major issues, full service history and last serviced in February this year.
I drove it on Wednesday with no issues but when getting in the car today I had various warning indications on my dash with three messages:

1. ABS Currently Unavailable, See Owners Manual
2. Run Flat Indicator Inoperative
3. PRE-SAFE Functions Limited, See Owners Manual

I inadvertently operated the cruise control whilst stationary and got another message stating 'Cruise Control and SPEETRONIC Inoperative' though that may be a red herring given I was stationary.

Power steering wasn't working either with the steering very stiff as I did try reversing out of my parking space, so engine working OK but I opted not to travel today given all the warnings, a google search suggested turning the steering wheel full lock left and right several times but that didn't do anything, battery was changed at service in 2020 so I do not suspect that.

I suspect all issues related but where or what, no idea...or is this a case of taking it to the garage to be looked over???

Any help/advise would be appreciated.

Thanks for your message, haven't checked the voltage yet but the battery was changed at service in 2020, cars not left dormant for long periods at all and never had an issue when starting the car...can I check the battery with a standard voltage tester???

You can >12.4 at rest and >14v with the engine running

If it goes away, chalk it up. If not, it needs to be looked at. Looks like you may have a failed wheel speed sensor, as not much knocks out ABS

Only just seen your message after I checked the battery, a quick search and yes the wheel speed sensor does seem to bring up similar issues, got the car booked in tomorrow to be looked over, hopefully that'll be it as not too expensive...hopefully:)

So got in car to take it to Kwik Fit this morning, power steering not working etc as before, reversed out and before I'd left the carpark I got a warning about my handbrake, so applied and then disengaged it, following that all faults cleared and power steering back on. Still took it to garage and they ran a diagnostic test but told me that their machine couldn't interrogate the car fully so have recommended I take it to Mercedes instead. Used the car this afternoon and is nothing ever happened. Could be a loose connection or something but thanks for your previous advise:)

Or an independent specialist who will sort it for less!!!

Either way, hope it stays fixed.

I had the exact same things come up a few months back, it was the brake vacuum pump.
Luckily it was still under warranty, Mercedes wanted to charge about £1100

Hi,

Not out to steal any work away from Olly at PCS or anyone else, but I have an MB diagnostic and happen to live in PO12.
Maybe worth a quick look first if you like..
