Hi I am new to the club and this forum but happy to meet you all.
I have a problem in as much as occasionally when I stop in traffic or at a junction say, the engine cuts out as it does in economy mode but then when I accelerate away there is no power. This is very dangerous especially when pulling out into traffic and some lorry or bus is bearing down on me and I cannot accelerate or move out of the way as the engine refuses to respond to the throttle.
Is there a way to switch off this function as it could result in a serious accident. Pre-safe has turned into imminent danger it seems. Many thanks BRIAN.

Thanks for the advice. I'll get it looked into although I must say being new to this car I didn't think twice about the engine switching off and on at first as I thought it was all part of the economy drive system and it seemed quite novel. However it was only after a few months that this happened on the odd occasion. Not regularly. Should have been designed not to operate at all if a fault occurred but just switch to normal driving mode rather than putting the driver in a dangerous position when pulling out at a junction for example. Thanks for the reply , much appreciated.

Stop start is part of the eco mode that’s normal operation, the fault where you have dropped into limp mode after isn’t but wouldn’t affect the eco settings, where are you based and someone here can recommend a good Indy for you to get it booked in with

Welcome. Firstly, it's not “Pre Safe”, but “Stop Start” and you can switch it off each time you start the car. There should be a button somewhere with an “A” surrounded by a circular arrow. Press that and it will stay off until the next time you start the car.

However, as others have said, if the car is going into limp mode that is unlikely to be anything to do with Stop Start.

If it's a W204 C-Class the button says "ECO" and is on the centre console beside the hazard warning light switch:

If it's a W205 it's the "A" button and should be down beside the touchpad:

Thanks everyone for chipping in. If Anyone can recommend a good Indy who can check this out for me in North Cornwall then that would be great. I live between Bude and Camelford. Any help appreciated. Thanks again - BRIAN.
