Hi, hoping for some help here for a first-time poster. I have a year 2000 W220 shape S500L, and I'm interested in using a safe phone system. I've noted you can pick up UHI cradles and phone for not too much money.

But how can I tell if there's a pre-installed cabling loom?

Any other advise or ideas would be greatly appreciated. Cheers

from my previous mercs if the car has been prewired where should be a compartment with a socket type connector.
check ebay for cradles......
if not prewired get a PARROT kit....

Cheers, thanks for the feedback. I do have COMAND, yes. Can't see anything in the arm-rest. Although I haven't moved any covers or mouldings in a prod-and-poke fashion. Is there anything on the COMAND system that will make the situation obvious? Thanking you all again of your wise words

Hi, there are two parts to the armrest. There should be two latches on the front lip of the rest, one lifts the lid and the other should give access to the phone cradle. The phone sits in a compartment in the lid of the armrest if that makes sense.
I would have thought if you had comand the hands free would be part of the system. What happens when you press the Tel. button on comand?

Hi everyone.

I am a newbie and seek your individual or collective wisdom. Have just purchased a E320 CDI Avantgarde Est (04 - poverty spec) which, by reading these posts seems not to have any telephone equipment or pre-wiring. (No COMMAND but other buttons pressed come up with 'No Phone' mesage). I should be grateful for top tips as to how to install (or rather, have insatalled) a suitable subsitute. Manufacturer/fitting specialists etc? Have looked at 'kits' but am not sure regarding compatibility with audio 20 system etc. Grateful for a steer.
