Hi Just got back from Scotland and took the chance to have a look at my son's brand nw, straight out the box - CLA 250e Premium Pluss Night Edition.

Whilst it's a great looking car with bags of "kerb appeal" and I have to say it drives very nicely; it's not the car he ordered. Car was originally ordered back in August 2021 - but only just delivered.
I'm going from memory, but I'm sure when we ordered it it had :-

Elecric memory seats - the car supplied has manual seats albeit heated.
Burmeister stereo - the car supplied has a standard stereo.
Powered boot - the car supplied does not have a powered boot or even have an interior boot release
Wireless phone charging - the car supplied does not have this.

There's probably other things that have yet to be discovered.

Yes, they have included a "Night Edition" pack (which we didn't order) and that's a nice addition. But come on guys - reqally??

Couldn't get build sheet as VIN not recognised yet (guess it's too new).

Any thoughts?

Probably a shortage of chips so have given you night pack to keep you sweet.

Absolutely this, OP didn’t your son notice/mention the missing bits at handover, if so what was said.

I would not be happy, at getting something that i didn’t order, and not getting what I did.

If he is truly unhappy and sure of his vehicle order, he can reject it, as it is not to the spec ordered and get a refund.... However as pointed out previously, some packs are no longer available, however these should have been communicated to you when known to the dealer... It is also posible that his order could be completed if order prior to the cut off date for these options. I am in the middle of a similar issue myself and as kindly advised by members of this forum, have had reluctantly to resort to the twitter route to get some action... Hopefully, you have an easier ride....

Not having experience the burmeister system, but read it’s an upgrade on the standard one, so would be very unhappy not getting it, as with the electric/memory seats, powered boot for me would be a no no, that gets used the most, wouldn’t be too fussed without wireless charger though.

I should also add that in the current climate of chip shortages, would be better not to change cars, especially if your current one is fairly new, and has all the options one wants.

I am sure you posted about this when he was placing the order because you were wondering what would be omitted in the Premium Plus specification due to the ongoing global semiconductor shortage, and I replied to you at the time because I had first hand knowledge of this after just having ordered my CLA 35 Premium.

All of the things you quoted are standard Premium Plus specification, but all of them I was told in September 2021 would not be included.
I was also told that Multi beam LED would not be included with Premium Plus.
This was one of the reasons I decided to go for Premium spec rather than Premium Plus because it simply did not make financial sense to go for the latter, and it seems like your son would have been better off doing the same
The only things my car is missing is wireless charging which is of no use to me anyway, and a basic sound system which I honestly do not notice any difference.
My car has an internal boot release but it does not have the kick your foot under the rear bumper feature that my previous PP spec CLA had.

Your son must have been told the situation at the time of placing the order so will have no redress in this area.

Just to add - Night Edition is now standard on Premium Plus spec with the result that the list price has risen by £3600 for the CLA 250e between the January 2022 (pre standard) and June 2022 (standard) price lists.

Not a big fan of night edition, but do like the spec of premium plus, when all is available.

My son is waiting for his Taycan ordered mid last year - still no firm delivery date.

@dry run When you order a new car, you get a spec sheet to sign off your order! Compare that to what you have received. I’d never have driven it out the showroom if it was not what I ordered. I’d take it back asap.

I would have also rejected it, yes would be a big disappointment, and an anti climax, especially waiting and anticipation for so long for the new car, but compromising for many missing options, just couldn’t live with that, especially if I was keeping the car for a good few years.

It’s hard enough finding a used one which ticks all the options one wants, and that is the reason many opt for a new car, as one can choose what spec to add.

Thanks for the replies and Ron240, you are right I did suspect not all would be delivered.

Two things I should point out.

Firstly, this is my sons 1st Mercedes (switched from BMW on my advice), so he wasn't "all over" the spec at order or handover.

Secondly, he's very appy with the car as it has more features than his previous BMW 530e. He's got the car through his work (on a tax efficient salary sacrafice scheme) so it's not really his car to reject. He's just miffed that he's paying for a Premium + and it's associated features. and not getting all the features.

Maybe it's a bit of a "first world problrm", but I thought I'd put it out there

I was going to ask if it is a 'company car' so rejection would probably not apply in any case.
I am familiar with the salary sacrifice scheme for pensions but I didnt know it could apply to car purchases. I am assuming in this case it is still in effect a company car and your son does not actually own it.
Somewhere along the line no later than the car being built the final spec would have been confirmed, but if your son is not familiar with what the car would previously have had prior to the world going to **** then he wouldnt know the difference.
Like you say he is happy with the car, and he has that lovely big panoramic roof that only comes with Premium Plus spec.
Plus it hasnt been mentioned if the price of his car was confirmed at time of ordering (before the Night Edition became standard at an additional £3.5k+), but if it was then he is laughing.

People work thier socks off, earn money and pay a handsome sum for a car (not a small purchase) and dont get what they ordered.

He needs to hold his ground and not be prepared to be palmed off with sweetners such as free services.

He will not be happy with the fact he has been deceived ever - if that is the case.
