Price Range for American LHD 1976 280SL - I would like some

1. Please could I ask for a price assessment for a 1976 LHD 280 SL. It is in roadworthy condition and comes with a hard top.

2. It has been stored in a garage, but will not be if I buy it. Would it be suitable as a day to day car or will it be like the Titanic?

Have had a 1969 280SL for a few years, personally, wouldn't dream of keeping it out in all weathers. Don't believe the hype, these cars are well built and reliable, but they rot just like any other car. It's harder to tell where the rot is on priliminary examination because Merc sprayed a protective underseal over all exposed parts when cars were new, however, over years this layer effectively trapped water between steel and inner coating, check out above site for what to look for.

Price Range for American LHD 1976 280SL

If it is a 1976 280SL, then I think it will be a 107 rather than a 113. It would have been a European model imported into the US, rather than a US-spec vehicle. I believe all the US spec models were V8s, whereas the 280 is a straight 6.

You will find some US prices for a 'grey market' 280SL here... http://fly.hiwaay.net/~gbf/107sl.html  ...but I don't know how recently they were posted. Check out some of the links for tips on what to look out for.

I've seen mention of a US-based newsletter focusing specifically on 107 prices. I think it was called the 107 Register but Google didn't find it for me.
