Not technically the correct use of the word i know but ive just bought my 1st one and am very happy

most sites id not show my redg as they are full of numties but on here ive yet to find any numpties so i thought id start a thread about what you bought, why you bought it and how much.

Mine ...

P4220065.jpg

Plate - D2 GFP
Why - D is for Danny, 2 is for my 2nd w124 coupe, GFP is for German Flower Pot
Cost - £499 (all in from the dvla)

i found the plate for £750 on 2 sites then + VAT + £80 transfer fees = £961.25 then somone told me about dvla and saved a fortune

my mate "frankieboy" has just got

Plate - V8 FMP
Why - V8 as its a 4.3 V8 clk, FMP are his initils
Cost - £399 (all in from dvla)

i am tempted to get D3 GFP for the twin turbo but as im probably going to sell it i wont bother

anyone else care to do theirs?

My plate JIB 4100, parents started calling my Jib as a kid, possibly because I was the sucked that had to pull in the jib sheet on dads boat. Family always call me Jib, wife Giles which sounds like im being told off.
Also have 321 PPP soon to be on a car.

im only 37 and dont drink, although i never had a problem i decided in july 1994 to never get drunk again as i hated being drunk, being sick and i was drinking too much when i did drink (now known as binge drinking nowadays i suppose) and just hated the whole thing

so 14 years later i still do not drink and never will get drunk again

plus if i had to drink 8 pints of anyhting in a day now id pick milk or lucozade!

anyway well done on staying off the bottle, my uncle now has bugger all lower intestine and is on pills to keep him alive after 50 years of drinking every day

Got a couple of his'n'her plates that spell our surname (if you think/read an '8' as an 'O' anyway) and an 'age hider' I bought because I liked the symetry of it; M2YSM which will be going on the Merc' soon

The Mrs has a D2 - D2 SGB - no great reason for the D2 - just that it looked better than the other options. Mine is 41 JBB. I bought it from a used car trader in Romford back in 1987 for £900. It took me 2 years and lots of failed attempts before I finally tracked down a non prefixed JBB plate.

The JBB bit is obvious and the 41 I always used to say would be my age in 2008. Seemed a long way off back then .........

On my ML, I have JEZ - followed by 4 random numbers (it was dirt cheap and took the year off). On my S-Class, I have just bought a plate with my REAL initials - DWS, prefixed by (almost) the engine size (like JEZ, it was cheap and took the year off). :D

Danny, I notice you have it in Silver on black

be careful the pointy-heads don't show an interest in you. Doesn't the car have to be registered before 31/12/72 for you to use those?

Not sure about 10k but certainly more than I paid for it :)
All academic though. I refused to sell it when I was penniless and had people 'knocking on the door', even though it was worth ten times the car it was stuck to. I always used to say, hold out and one day that I'll put it on a Merc....

I've had it so long now, to everyone round here, it is me, so I'd never sell it.
The kids can flog it and have the cash when I'm pushing up daisies.
