It would appear I have a small problem with my W124, It has a lodger, I think of the small furry variety, and has proceeded to eat some foam from under the drivers seat, and also some of my glasses case and hands free kit. How can I get rid of this problem in the most un humane way without causing any damage to my car, yet causing it much discomfort to it after eating some of my perfect conditioned seat.

And has this ever happened to anyone else??

Well that is something completely different:D by opening all 4 doors and tapping and all of the seats or leave some cheese outside and wait for it to get the smell

You could like friends of mine put poison inside the car, the downside to this was that the rodent then died up behind the dash board and the smell was/is something else. Eventually part of the rodent fell onto the drivers feet covered in maggots :barf:

I would recommend a trap inside the car rather than poison.

I have been told and tried it myself, succesfully that a piece of Chocolate on the Mousetrap works well if in doubt put a couple of traps in the car over night, --- Just think --it could be a Female Mouse nesting ready to give birth to a clutch of little ones ;) ;)

I was working in pest control for Ecolab up till my back gave in about a year ago, peanut butter is pretty much the best bait you can use for mice and rats, even better than the pro baits we got supplied with usually.

Don't use cheese, they will only eat that if there is no seat foam left.
Peanut butter and chocolate are about the best.

You can get poisons that will kill instantly which is handy, the trouble is if the rodent deosn't eat enough to kill it it will still get ill but then wont touch the same poison again and you ened up with just the resistant ones surviving.

Its more usual to use an anti coagulant these days that takes several feedings to build up to a lethal level, probably best not use it in the car though one dead mouse will soon dry out and stop smelling. :D

I will be very interested to see how you get on.

I was looking to see what fuse had gone last night on the wifes ML (No interior lights) and I noticed that a furry friend had eaten part of the bonnet sound proofing. The little BA£$^&D and left several little presents on top of the coolant expansion tank.

Well so far nothing in the trap! But when I do catch him, he's gonna get peeled and dipped in vinegar

Yeah if I put my cat in the car, it will live in harmony with the furry bugger, then I'll end up putting the dog in there too! Was thinking of setting up the eighties classic board game mouse trap on the back seat and seeing where that takes me.
hind sight probably should have smoked him out !

What does one use to get rid of dogs :D I suppose that it would make hot dogs

Let the cat sleep in the car? Or a trap with water. The bugger must be thirsty by now. Don't be too tolerant, they can cause serious damage. Particularly when their preference tuns to the wiring and sparks start to fly.
