Hello

a friend of mine drive an 2001 Mercedez E220 Disiel

:problem

When the car starts the car runs uneven, as if one cylinder wasn't working, although after few seconds it goes away

The second problem is a bit worse, even the dealer isn't helpfull, all they do replace parts but nothing improves, the car dies at random times, sometimes after few hours of driving, sometimes right away, it feels like the car loses turbo, it has no acceleration, drives like a mule

anyone know what could be the possible problem, please let us know

oh and just a general question, E220 engine has a timing chain vs a timing belt to my understanding. is this correct?

thanks in advance

One cylinder a bit off on starting, sounds like dodgy glow plugs....does the glow plug light ever stay on or come on?

Second one is strange, check on the fuel cap, is it venting properly? Other than that check for air leaks on fuel lines, but there are other problems like MAF sensors and things like that, have not suffered them but there is lots about them on the forum here.
