Problem with Boot Lock

Hello. I wondered if anyone had any good fixes for a vacuum problem on the tailgate of a C180 estate 97plate. It appears that the vacuum pump is not powering enough to lock the boot once it has been opened and the handle is engaged. Is this simply a case of changing the vacuum pump? I had changed the vacuum pump once but there was a kink in the tube. Now I've straightened out the kink I'm hoping that replacing the vacuum pump is enough? I've had the lock off and watched the mechanism as I lock and unlock the car. Is there another part that may be in need of looking at?

If all of the other locks work, then it should not be the pump, when locking and unlocking the pump should only run for a few seconds and then cut, if it runs longer the there is a leak or diaphragm faulty on maybe the rear lock or fuel filler flap

Thanks Malcolm. I've just found a diagram of the mechanism and it's actually the vacuum cell which I've ordered a replacement of. Is this likely to be the cause? I've checked all the pipework and straightened out a kink. There doesn't appear to be any cracks etc although checking the whole trail of yellow pipe was a bit of a game! All other doors/petrol flap work.

Thanks Malcolm for the advice!

Fitted the vacuum cell, mainly in the dark due to chatty neighbours! but boot locks beautifully. Many thanks for the advice.:D
