Hi
I haven't used the window for a while. Yesterday, the driver side window opened and closed correctly. Today, it opened fine, but did NOT want to close.
Pressing the button either had no effect, or only pushed it up 1 or 2 centimetres. Managed to close it after more than 10 presses.
I can only hear the motor when the window moves. So, I assume either electricity is not reaching the motor or a fault in the motor or switch.
Any idea or advice?
Thank you.

I’d get the door card off and check the regulator is working correctly. Some lube on the moving parts would be what I’d be getting on with

I would also recommend brushing the door channel with a stiff brush (toothbrush?) to ensure that its clean.
Regulators are known to wear and fail.
As recommended by @Blobcat , removing the door card will give you an idea of whether anything is out of alignment or badly worn and also give you access to the motor wiring.
Replacing a regulator or motor is a DIY job for a competent mechanic .

Thank you for the 2 replies. I assume removing the door card does not affect the air bag.

It shouldn't - key out of the ignition when taking the door card off

Might be worth disconnecting the battery incase unplugging the airbag throws a fault light…

Normalize your window, it has lost its end positions. When window is reaching up position (no matter how many short push you have needed so far), keep button pushen 5sec. Same to down. After that 'one push' should work. If not, then there is something preventing free movement, or bad steel cables like said above.

I had a busy week and didn't have the chance to try to fix the window.
The problem is in the front driver's side window. Yesterday, I opened the front passenger's window and it has the same problem.
Two Windows with same problem it seems like it could be an electrical fault, not mechanical.
As suggested above, I may need to normalize the windows, or it could be a problem with the car battery, or ......?

Windows lost their 'norm' position always when battery is disconnected or voltage dropped very low. Try normilizing at car running, and test right after that.. BTW can't remember if pre- facelift car had 'one push' feature...

2005 CL500.
As above, just normalize the windows...job done.

Always best to look for the simplest explanation first before tearing things apart.
