Hello
I have recently bought a 2001 ML55 AMG but have been having problems with the Command. It is specifically the Sat Nav and CD player. The Sat Nav was working fine and I'm using an original 2006/2007 disc however a couple of days ago it stopped working and a message now comes up saying "CD Reading Error" and I'm sure there was also a message about a Cd Drive Error but can't remember exactly what it said.
Also, I've got a CD Multi-changer in the boot and it seems to work when it feels like it. When it decides it doesn't want to work I get the following msgs:
CD Changer:
No Magazine
CD Drive:
Reading Error
The magazine is loaded correctly and the CDs are in the right way! Does all this mean the Command is broken or can anyone advise me please?

Thank you

Sounds to me like you have two problems.

Firstly you either have a faulty cable or cables between the changer and the head unit or a loose connection on the back. I suggest you pull the comand out with the correct keys and check all connections on the back of the comand. Be careful with the fibre optic (orange) ones. Also check the cables at the Cd changer end. The No magazine error could also just be some dirt in the changer.

The other problem sounds like a CD reading fault in the head unit. This is very common. Try running a Cd lens cleaner through the headunit a few times. This often fixes this problem.
