Project SL500 R230 Can't remove key, amongst other things

Hi there,

I am making slow progress on my 'project' SL500. After chasing many faults, changed both batteries and most of the problems seem to have disappeared.
One of the problems I now have is that I can't remove the key without some force, this has only just stated happening. I've searched, but nothing so far has helped or I've missed it

Any one come across this ?

For info a couple of the other faults are light sensor faulty, visit workshop. (If I remove sensor fault goes) Fault always been there
Cant raise the boot cover ?? when the roof is open (Also just started happening
Can't see any connection between these three things, but one never knows

All thoughts greatly appreciated

If you push the gear selector harder into park (forward) does it come out easier?

If not, there is a cable clipped to the side of the ignition switch that links it to the selector to allow you to remove the key, this may have come off.

It doesn't seem to help pushing the lever forward.
