ps..... re my new air flow sensor. i had a terrible hesitation and hunting revs if i just touched the throttle, had a look at air flow meter and was pretty crap so bit the bullet and bought a new one. worked alot better. but the under lying problem was still there? earlier this evening it got really bad and annoying so i pulled over and opened the bonnet. on the air intake pipe that runs from the grill to the air filter housing there a little probe that sits in the pipe with two wires coming of it and running somewhere, anyway i unplugged the probe and the problem has stopped!?

any one tel me please, WHAT it is, and WHY its fixed the prob? baffled! thanks!

Sounds like you disconnected your air inlet temperature sensor and by so doing your ECU has now inputted an average data figure for it and hence your motor runs ok, thats my best guess;)
