2019 220d Cla amg line night edition
Hi everyone! New to the forum and new to Mercedes cars. Recently bought my cla 19plate 220d and driving home with it on the motorway and smooth roads heard a pulsating humming noise at different speeds that changed when I went faster and slower. Took to dealership which said no abnormal sounds all they can hear is road noise. It came with devanti 18inch on all with 7mm tread all round. Could it be possible to have this kind of noise using a mid range/budget tyre? Anyone else come across this issue?
Thankyou

Yes is probably attribute this to budget tyres.

Especially if I changes characteristics with different road surfaces

When I bought my car (S Class W221) the dealer had put 2 new tyres (budget) on the front. The road noise on a section of the M25 was almost deafening. So loud that I thought I had a flat tyre! I changed these to Michelin Pilot Sport 4 (to match the rears) and when next on the same section of the M25 all sounded normal.

Agree with Alex, almost certainly cheap tyres, especially if the y have a V type tread pattern.

I had the same issue on a VW some years back. Although the tyres had plenty of meat on them I changed them for a new set of Conti's and that cured the mystery :)

Begs question , how do shxte Chinese ryres make it into the UK. 1st World Country (maybe?) relying on safety product from 3rd world manufacturing stds? I use chinesse stuff, only where I envisage a one use only..

All tyres have to adhere to the BS Standards before they are even let into the country

I have noticed MB are very sensitive to tyres. They love having decent rubber. I would see if a tyre change helps as recommended above.
