Punctureseal

Has anybody ever used Punctureseal or similar products that are supposed to stop your tyres deflating in the event of a puncture? Apparently some police forces use them to enable them to drive over their own stingers. But I've been told that once you've had a puncture, the tyre can't be mended & must be replaced because the patches won't stick onto the slimy interior. But surely if the stuff does what it says on the tin the tyre wouldn't need to be mended anyway ...

I think that's the point, they wouldn't need repairing anyway.
The idea is fine and allegedly it works, BUT its no substitute for a spare, as my Mum found with her smart. The problem is that you can get punctures for more reasons than a simple nail. If you get a tear in the sidewall, vandalism, a dodgy valve or ding the wheel, the instant repair stuff won't help you.

To be fair, I can't remember the last time I had a puncture or changed a wheel. I've certainly never had call to use the jack on a Merc, and I've been running them since 1998!

This stuff looks interesting, but I haven't tried it:
That stuff looks similar to the goop supplied with my wifes Honda Accord. Works OK until you need to get the puncture repaired or a new tyre. When you do the tyre dealers hate it as it messes up the rim and is very hard to clean off. I am semi-actively looking for a spare wheel for my wifes car just so we wouldn't have to use the gloop.

Part of the standard tool kit on my car is a blow up puncture fix can. I only have a blow up spare wheel.

My tin has special MB air in it.
