Hello, Thanks to this forum I have just bravely purchased my first MB via e-bay. I would recommend having a good look around the forum to anyone in the same boat.

I knew to check for pulling to left (its ok), what tyres to get, how many keys it should have, to get the transmission fluid and filter changed (its done 77k) and to not be too suprised if there is some rust (two tiny patches) and minor amounts of engine oil consumption are not the end of the world.

Thanks to all for maintaining this forum, I have posted a few techy questions in the appropriate pages and I am a diesel mechanic (Earthmoving plant) by trade so clever SI engines are a minor mystery. I have just traded a ford moandao TDCI (my third in two years) which seems to get regular engine troubles only to be told by the garage that they are a complicated engine and the faults are in my mind (not happy). Look forward to chipping in if I can and will read with interest.

Congrats on your new purchase Jim.

Keep us posted when you get those minor problems sorted.

good choice

Jim, if it's anything as reliable as my 94 C280, you are in for a very trouble free time. In 3and half years, aprt form plugs oil filters, tyres and on set of front discs, the only things needed have been an OVP ( curse you Siemens) and a duo-valve for the heater. 65,000 miles of fast, refined driving pleasure. I'd recommend it to anyone.
