Hi Folks, I need to carry out an Automatic Transmission fluid & filter change on our C250TD which has done 126K mikes. Can any of you please advise on which grade of ATF I should use and also which brand ? Should I get the proper MB ATF or will a different brand do eg AutoCare or something similar? Thanks.

I just read another thread about dipsticks and seals, is it likely that a general garage (not an indie) could change my atf and filter if he knew the capacity (it is a 1999 E240).
Is the brake fluid 'special' as well if a complete fluid change is required.
Thanks

Nothing special about the brake fluid, the type required is printed on the lid of the reservoir.

Don't get a normal garage to do the ATF job, get an indie to do it, without a dipstick you can only measure what came out, and if what came out wasn't the correct level to start with then you'll still have an incorrect amount of atf in the box.
