Travelling along a busy street about 25 mins ago in my large transit minibus, the street had cars parked all down the opposite side and cars were coming at me on my side of the road, there was however room for two cars to pass. As I drove up the road passing numerous cars until coming towards me was a slightly wider American Pickup, both of us pass each other and as we pass our wing mirrors clash and my mirror is slammed flat against the door window and I notice the back (plastic) of the mirror fly into the road. Traffic being so heavy it took me 20 metres before I could pull in safely, I also notice that the AP (american pickup) has finally stopped about 50 meters further down from the mirror clash and then he drives off- I did not get his number plate and I'm not bothered about the back of my mirror but my question is- should I have reported it or /as he may do so??!
Further after he drove off I try to rescue my mirror back but find it has been driven over and smashed, I also find loads of glass on the road!!!! NOT Mine!!

I was hoping for that answer, I was just thinking of just buying a new mirror back and there did'nt seem to be any injuries with the other party as no-one got out of the AP and then it drove off!!
I'll be honest though Malcolm- I did list this on Pistonheads earlier but it did'nt appear for about 10 mins so I then posted on here. Response on Pistonheads has thrown me though- first responder said ask insurers for advice???

wehn you find the cost of the new mirror back

you will wince, but it would be knock for knock and well under everyone's excess and admin costs and all the rest. Best left alone and one for the learning curve.

If you do report it to your insurers it will then be on your "profile" for ages to come ,even if it were not your fault !
I had similar but body work made contact too (i was between parked cars and other car came charging through anyway) She called the police? but i said i have got better things to do than wait 2-3 hrs for police who may or may not turn up, gave reg. no and off i went.
Told my insurance company to be on safe side.
now every time i renew my insurance i have to mention the minor "scuffle" even though no one made any claim.

I notice you live in Essex ,It wouldn't have been a black truck a Dodge Ram by any chance driven by a ginger haired pikey with a puddin basin haircut ,additonal stop light attached to the rear tow bar . If it is it's the same Wa**ke* that took the side out of one of my Vito Taxi's costing me £1500 sobs to get it fixed .

No sorry mate, it was an Off silver/ rusty one and he seemed to have long pieces of wood or pipes sticking up out of the back, I know how you feel though!!
